Welcoming Ryan: Introducing KINK’s New Official Event Photographer

Welcoming Ryan: Introducing KINK’s New Official Event Photographer

Welcoming Ryan: Carrying the Lens Forward at KINK

Since KINK first began back in 2014, one constant presence helped capture the energy, the connections, and the unforgettable moments that make our events so special: Bengie.

Loved by so many in our community, he wasn’t just our photographer — he was a friend, a familiar smile, and someone who truly understood the spirit of what KINK is all about.

Following Bengie’s very sad passing last year, we’ve been reflecting not only on how much he meant to us, but also on the legacy he leaves behind. At the last KINK event he attended, Bengie had already spoken about stepping back from photography. During those conversations, one name came up — someone he genuinely liked, trusted, and felt would be the perfect person to continue his work. Bengie was deeply pleased knowing this person would one day step into the role.

While Bengie will always be missed, we know he would be happy to see the baton now being passed to someone who shares his warmth, enthusiasm, and passion for the scene.

And so, we’re proud to introduce our new official KINK photographer: Ryan.

Getting to Know Ryan

We caught up with Ryan so you can learn a little more about the person behind the camera.

What first sparked your interest in the fetish scene, and what kept you coming back?

“Like many, I came across the fetish scene whilst glancing (perving!) through certain magazines, websites and early social media platforms such as Tumblr. It awakened an interest towards trying to find events and people also interested in fetishism.
After attending events such as KINK and having the freedom to be yourself, wear your gear and practice fetishes in the company of other like-minded people, it has given me an exhilaration that has kept me hooked on coming back!”

How would friends in the scene describe your vibe in three words?

“I’d say giggly, deferential & bashful 😄”

What’s your favourite part of a fetish event — the people, the energy, the fashion, or something else?

“I think it’s a combination of seeing a variety of people from many backgrounds and fetishes all willing to share and show their intimate desires, and also the relationships that also come about as a result of meeting there. It does make for some amazing kinky theatre, too!”

What’s one thing you think every newcomer should know before attending their first event?

“My advice is that you’re probably going to feel nervous, and that’s alright. Everyone there is human and most can remember their first event.
People have come to enjoy and indulge in their own and other people’s fetishes in the safety of an event. Try it, and potentially make some good friends and memories in the process!”

Spot Ryan at Your Next Event

You’ll usually find Ryan and his camera around the club between 8pm and 10pm. If you see him and would like your picture taken, just give him a shout — he’ll be happy to capture your look.

As always, consent and comfort remain a priority. If you’d prefer not to be photographed, simply wear a red lanyard, which you can collect when you check in, or mention to Ryan that you don't want your picture taken.

Looking Ahead

We’re truly excited to have Ryan on board. Stepping into a role previously held by someone so loved is no small thing — but we’re confident he’ll carry it forward with care, respect, and his own unique style.

Here’s to new memories, new moments, and continuing to celebrate our incredible community — just as Bengie helped us do for so many years!
